Love Island USA Season 8, Episode 18: The Villa Finally Gets Even

The first night of Casa Amor irritated a few us. Watching the women back at the Villa realize what was happening while their men were busy meeting brand-new women was rough. Was I the only one who hated seeing them tear up while the guys seemed to forget their original connections existed the second a new girl walked through the door?

Thankfully, Episode 18 gave us something a little more satisfying.

Instead of bringing six new men into the Villa, production decided to double down and send in twelve. That's right. Twelve new men for the women to meet, spend time with, and potentially build connections with.

What made the whole situation even better was watching the double standard unfold in real time.

The OG men were absolutely ecstatic when they arrived at Casa Amor and found themselves surrounded by new women. Suddenly, though, the mood changed when they realized a group of men was heading to the Villa to meet their women. The confidence disappeared pretty quickly once they learned there were more men than expected and that several of them looked like they had walked straight out of a fitness magazine.

As they say, what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

One thing I genuinely enjoyed was seeing the new men focus entirely on the women. After spending the previous day feeling disappointed, hurt, and more than a little embarrassed by what they had witnessed, the attention seemed to give them a much-needed confidence boost. Whether the connections are real or not remains to be seen, but it was nice watching the women remember they have options too.

Of course, this is Love Island, so getting to know each other also involved a few kisses and plenty of flirting. By the end of the day, the women were forced to narrow the group from twelve men down to six.

Did they make the right choices? I'm not convinced.

A few of the men who stayed seem promising, but I also think some potentially great options were sent packing far too early. Personally, I would have loved to see the women keep all twelve around for another day before making any decisions. If we're going to embrace chaos, let's fully commit.

After the cuts were made, each woman had to choose which man would spend the night with her. At this point, it looks like several of them are genuinely willing to explore these new connections. Honestly, I'm not sure that would have happened if they hadn't been shown real-time footage of their OG men enjoying Casa Amor a little too much.

Meanwhile, back at Casa Amor, the OG men suddenly seem to have a case of nerves. The same men who couldn't wait to test their connections are now sitting around wondering what the women are doing, who they're talking to, and whether someone else is turning their heads.

Funny how quickly the energy changes when you're no longer the one holding all the cards.

And I have to admit, we love to see it.
