Reality Check: Love Island USA Season 8, Episode 21 — Loyalty Was Put to the Test
Casa Amor is officially over.
Now it was finally time to see who meant all those promises...and who was about to embarrass themselves on national television.
Before the recoupling, the Casa guys pulled out all the stops.
Corey surprised Melanie with a breakfast picnic, while Dylan treated Kenzie to a spa date. Although after watching that massage, I have to ask...
Has anyone checked with an actual massage therapist? Because there was a whole lot more kissing than deep tissue work happening.
The recoupling is one of my favorite episodes because the stakes couldn't be higher.
If someone chooses to stay loyal and waits for their original partner, they're taking a huge gamble. If that partner walks back into the Villa with someone new, they're suddenly left single and vulnerable.
The same goes for the OG guys.
Nobody really knows what's waiting for them until those Villa doors open.
The Couples
Trinity & Bryce
These two chose each other.
Trinity gave one of the sweetest speeches of the season, talking about how badly she wanted Bryce back. Then the cameras revealed they had both unknowingly worn yellow and were standing there trying not to cry.
My allergies may or may not have suddenly acted up.
Melanie & Sincere
They also chose to stay loyal.
Unlike Trinity and Bryce, however, this reunion wasn't exactly romantic.
Melanie had some thoughts.
Several F-bombs later, she made it crystal clear exactly how Sincere's behavior during Casa Amor made her feel.
Whether any of it actually sinks in remains to be seen.
Kenzie & Dylan
Kenzie chose Dylan, and honestly, it worked out perfectly.
Corbin returned with one of the Casa girls, meaning Kenzie would have been standing there alone had she stayed loyal.
To make matters worse for Corbin, the Villa girls were more than ready to remind him about everything he'd been saying that was caught on video.
Let's just say...the figurative tomatoes were flying.
Kayda & Zach
These two reunited as well.
Although I still have one question...
Did Zach really choose loyalty, or did production make the decision a little easier after his Villa connection was removed from the show?
I'm just saying.
Jen & Gal
Jen chose Gal.
I wasn't exactly celebrating this one.
Considering he already admitted he planned to continue pursuing Kenzie, this doesn't exactly scream "solid foundation."
Caleb & Jaiden
Caleb decided to bring Jaiden back to the Villa, proving he wasn't interested in waiting around for someone who wasn't choosing him.
Aniya & KC
Let’s be honest, this is the couple everyone was waiting for.
Aniya chose loyalty.
KC...
Did not.
He walked back into the Villa with one of the Casa girls, who apparently forgot she'd known this man for approximately three days before deciding to start arguing with the original girls.
The attitude was immediate.
The loyalty was...ambitious.
And if history tells us anything, I have a feeling she won't be around for very long.
Thankfully, the episode ended with one final twist on the app.
America now gets to vote to bring one of the Casa boys back into the Villa.
If social media is any indication, I have a pretty good feeling a lot of viewers are planning to send someone back specifically for Aniya.
After everything she just went through...
Honestly?
She deserves another chance.
My Prediction
I don't think America is voting with romance in mind.
I think America is voting for justice.
And if that's the case...
Aniya may be getting exactly the second chance she deserves.
Now excuse me while I prepare for the internet to completely lose its mind over the results.
